# 9 Potluck

What a great potluck! It's not over: with a full orchestra arranged by Wieneke, amazing food, plenty of drinks, and thoroughly fascinating people, the party's moving to my backyard and will probably continue into the night. I finally got my enchilada verdes heated and out on the table. There is still plenty of food but it's going fast.
Here's what I love: I'm seeing groups of neighbors together, 2, 3, 4, 6 people laughing together, swapping stories about their countries and recipes and characteristics that make them unique. What a great way to get to know one another.
Because I'm feeling a bit under the weather, I've been moving slowly and eating less than I normally would. But the festivity has not gone unnoticed by me. And I'm glad some neighbors know that they are welcome without having to bring food. This is Blogland Lane, where who you are and what you do is supported, no pressure, just appreciation.
You know, often when I throw a party I'm afraid no one will show up. So thanks, neighbors, for coming! And Middle and Marion and Sonia and Mim, I can't believe you cleaned the kitchen so damn fast.
Wowie! Woo Hoo! I'm happy!

  1. A big hug for the hostess with the mostess. I hope you feel better soon!

  2. I'm sorry your moving slowly...
I'm having the time of my life!!!!

  3. Those enchiladas look just great!

  4. KJ, it was a wonderful party and I enjoyed every minute of it. Thanks for the invitation. I have never seen so quickly disappear so much food and drink :-)))
    Get well soon!

  5. debra kay, i'm feeling better today, alittle. i loved the party even though...

pattee: you are a fab guest!!--my kind of pal!!

pieterbie, so where were you? i was looking for you.... xo

wieneke, you are one fab guest too! the food was incredible. i'm glad we can be friends in this way. but don't forget a time will come for real time apple pie. it's just a question of your place or mine, and you are always welcomed at mine...

  6. Uh...I'm afraid we used up all the paper towel while we were cleaning. And there might have been an episode with the cooking sherry. I'll replace it! I swear!

Nobody had a camera with them, did they?

  7. Thanks! What a great party. I've rarely had so much fun.

I'm sure I saw MAW drink the sherry.

  8. wolfie, did you end up helping with clean up? we need guys to be a good example, you know...

middle, bring the sherry over and plan to spend time telling me about yourself. did you know i am among other things a career counselor? i love the decision you made, good for you. but how did you know i am out of paper towels? and what spilled?--i have to know. :)

dedene, i am so glad. and thank you for squealing on middle--hahaha! actually she knew i wouldn't mind... :)

  9. I was proud of Wolf and Owl during was done quickly and without too much squabbling between them.

Yes...the sherry. I did see a full bottle on your counter at the beginning of the party, and Middle was there, but not once did I see her imbibing even a tsp! But I did see many come in, ostensibly for coffee, and we didn't think you'd mind if they took a nip in their coffee.

The whole bottle's gone? Well, as soon as I can find the liquor outlet, I'll replace it...oh, ummm, some found the vodka and rye, as well...

  10. marion, ah, you are a peacemaker!

and of course i didn't mind. i am a better sharer on blogland lane than i may in in life here, but i think the lane is going to be a good influence.

    :) and xo
