Annie has been busy at 53A

I've been so busy moving in. The inside was finished right away but there was so much to do on the outside. The lighthouse needed some restoration and the front porch, especially, needed to be completely rebuilt. But here she is, finished at last. The bench is a refugee from the side of the road, now all spruced up. The potted flowers add a bright spot, don't you think?

Now that the porch is finally finished, I can sit back and enjoy the view day and night.

When I'm not daydreaming, walking on the beach, or working on a project, I escape to the side yard where I found old roses running riot from lack of pruning for so many years. I pulled out a truck load of shrubs and ivy run wild and look what I found. This wall is a dream, don't you think?

Come by. Set a spell and smell the roses with me.

  1. Oh wow! I'm on my way. Just have a zillion chores to do first - no, blow it, I'm on my way right now. I'll bring a couple of home made muffins . . . I'd like to say I made them, but I'm a lousy liar (even though I write fiction). Karen made them and they're delicious.

  2. Annie, I saw your bench the other day and wondered who had cleaned up the porch and roses. So here I am! What a lovely view, too. Welcome to our little paradise.

  6. annie, here's me at # 9, a fellow gardener who appreciates stone walls as much as i appreciate chocolate and coconut cake.

it's obvious your yard is going to have your own special touch. i'll probably be biking by on my way to the beach, or the park, or wieneke's shop. you'll know me because most of the time my smile is as authentic as yours...

  8. Lovely plantings, and you're rosy as a rose, too :-)

That wall with the moss and lichen looks so cooling. I read where you can take moss and mix it with buttermilk, whiz it in a blender (ick?) and paint rock with it and moss will grow---

Mmmmmm, the roses just smell divine!
