TONIGHT AT 7: A NEIGHBORHOOD CHAT

TONIGHT AT 7:00 pm Eastern Standard Time, Marion and kj will click into comments on this post and begin a chatting over the fence. Anyone who would like to join in or follow along is welcome. We don't know what we'll talk about. We just know we are happy to be neighbors and we decided to take some time to hang out together.

  4. Hey, kj,

How wonderful to see you! You look well, after the weekend you've just had. I'm getting over the flu shot...it's knocked my socks off! Just don't feel up to par...

  5. hello marion, you got here first! you must look better than you feel. i've been doing some gardening and this morning i wrote a new post. you love to write too, don't you?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Love it, I'm always writing. I haven't received your book yet, but I am so looking forward to it! You ARE a REAL writer!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Oh, by the way, don't forget to reload the page, lol!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Hi KJ, Marion, and Leigh (are you there too).
I have a few minutes before I have to run.

    ReplyDelete
  9. i am so excited that you will be reading my book. you know, it's only been a year or so that i actually feel like a writer. having the book published has been so wonderful for me.

i love your story about wolf and the "unknown". it's so mysterious to me. where did you live before moving to blogland lane, marion? and have you written your whole life?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Helooo, Annie, how nice you were able to make it to the group gathering! What have you been up to?

    ReplyDelete
  11. hi annie, what fun to see you here. tell me two quick things about you, would you? i know you are super nice....

    ReplyDelete
  12. What are the titles of your books? I just ordered Leigh's. I'd like to explore some others.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm living in the Cariboo region of BC right now. And I have written my whole life, so glad that Blogger arrived!

    ReplyDelete
  14. (hey, i have to ask, once i type in a comment, can i just stay here and wait or do i have to go back to our homepage?)

    ReplyDelete
  15. You've got to reload the page, that's that little round arrow at the top of your page. Or else go back to homepage...

    ReplyDelete
  16. Two quick things about me. Hummmm. Love photography. LOVE to read.

I've been studying a philosophy book today. Fun stuff (well, I use the term fun loosely). Then I started watching a disaster flik. Love action movies.

  17. marion, me too. i;ve written always but only through blogging have i gone "public" with it. i write poems too. i've found that most of "us" don't just write or paint, but do several creative things. i really do love your writing. it is compelling.

    ReplyDelete
  18. annie, my novel is a love story called 'the light stays on'. so far it is getting good reviews and i admit i am in love with every part of it.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I agree kj. Blogging has made me spread my wings and try several things over the last five years. I finally settled into photography and writing. And like you, my writing went public with my blog. The mood for it sort of comes and goes but it's always sitting there waiting.

    ReplyDelete
  20. annie, i love photography too. i now carry my camera everywhere.

i am loving blogland lane. we have 50 followers, can you believe that? i love how diverse our posts are, and how creative. plus we seem to be building a village!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Annie, me too, I love photography. And I love to read...I'm reading Pat Conroy's South of Broad at the moment.

kj, your blog is totally compelling. I've read most of it, and I was enthralled. Great blog.

    ReplyDelete
  22. 50 followers! Wonderful. I look forward to every post on here. They are always inspiring and really diverse.

    ReplyDelete
  23. kj, have you lived in Maine your whole life?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I need to visit more of the other blogs more. I started getting stuck here and realized there was a whole set of blogs out there that I needed to explore.

I'm reading Dean Koontz right now. "Dark Rivers of the Heart" Don't much get into S. King but Koontz really keeps my attention. I love how he hands his characters and the structure he brings to his stories.

    ReplyDelete
  25. know what i love about blogging and writing? i never feel alone. i always have something to do that makes me happy because i can write.

i did not expect to make "real" friends from blogging and that has happened.

    where are you from, annie?

and marion, what a sweet thing to say about my blog. sometimes i think all i do is complain about a broken heart, and other times i just try to be silly. but thanks so much. i don't really know if it is a good blog or not.

    ReplyDelete
  26. that would be handles his characters, not hands. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  27. marion, i live in massachusetts, about two miles from boston. for 20 years i lived right outside of boston. i've lived in germany & oklahoma too. what about you? what is it like where you live? do you have "artist-types" in your life, outside of our lane, of course?!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Annie, I have to go to other blogs more, as well. I can't find the time, sometimes, since I can write for hours, but not, unfortunately, read other blogs as much as I want to.

There is always something to pique my interest and I love the friendships I've made.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I live in the central valley of california. Socialable person but don't mind being solitary either. Love the diverse people I've met blogging and the clarity it has brought to me to focus on my talents.

Blogging has made me redefine the meaning of the word friendship. There is a huge world of real people that we may never meet f2f but they are friends, nevertheless.

    ReplyDelete
  30. i don't read as much as i wish i did these days. my favorite book of all time is the mists of avalon. marion, it has the same mystery in a way as your writing...

    ReplyDelete
  31. i'll be honest: i struggle with loving and caring about people i will not meet, cannot have a cup of coffee with. but i have to agree, annie--the friendships are real.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I so wish I could stay longer here and visit but my witching hour is fast approaching. I have to leave in about ten minutes and I still haven't freshened up since this morning. It's been really nice. I look forward to visiting again and I will say HI at your blogs too.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm sorry, where did I get the impression you were from Maine? Of course it's Massachusetts. I remember when you lived in Germany you were cold for two years.

I was born in Hamburg, Germany and we emigrated to a small town on Vancouver Island when I was 5. I grew up there, lived in Vancouver, Penticton, Port Alberni, Qualicum Beach and now 150 Mile House, all in BC.

There are many writers here; but since I've just moved here almost two years ago, I've not sought them out as much as I could have. It takes time to find my bearings!

So I'm happy to have the very creative people on Blogland lane to inspire me!

    ReplyDelete
  34. annie, have a good day. maybe marion and i will share exciting secrets in the upcoming minutes and you can read about them later--hahaha!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Bye, Annie! See you soon!

Kj, my story is really fascinating to me. It has a life of its own, no kidding! And what fun I'm having with it...

    ReplyDelete
  36. 150 mile house. that is some name, marion.

it does take time. i wish i had a best friend who lived near me, who could drop by like you and i are doing now. i don't have dozens of friends but the ones i do have have my back and i theirs.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I miss my friends and family for sure. This has been a very solitary two years for me and you know what? I've learned a lot about myself as a result! It's all good...just wish there was someone close by to share stuff with.

    ReplyDelete
  38. marion, it took me a while to figure out that the characters write the story. i am just the recorder, in some real way. it's an amazing process.

i have several secrets. do you?

    ReplyDelete
  39. too many to count...and probably that's where they'll stay. Secrets come out in my writing, though.

    ReplyDelete
  40. i've been pretty solitary over the last year too. i haven't had the easiest year but i agree with you: what doesn't break you makes you stronger.

    ReplyDelete
  41. oh, and can you believe we've been talking for over a half hour. this is pretty cool.

    ReplyDelete
  42. It's a well known cliche and so true. There have been many times in my life that I thought I'd break, but I bent with it and managed once again to become upright.

    ReplyDelete
  43. It would be great if we all got onto scype or something like that, and had a real time chat, like Oprah does with all her fans. You could be Oprah, kj!

    ReplyDelete
  44. i am in a very intensive memoir group--just four writers and it is so difficult to write the truth (secrets be damned) while thinking that some things are not yours to say. the teacher says, 'you HAVE to write it. you might edit it later and not publish it, but you have to write it'

haha! we wondered what we would talk about and here we are talking about our true love: writing.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yes, but I think you are a great teacher for an aspiring writer, such as myself. You are so full of joy it is such a privilege to know you! And can you believe how long this strange little post is! It's so funny!

    ReplyDelete
  46. marion, hmmmm, today the fence, tomorrow skype! that is a really good idea. let's figure out how to do it, marion. it could be our 2010 present to ourselves and neighbors on blogland lane.

i like the way you think. it shows in your writing.

what do think about our blogland lane. sometimes i wonder why only 4 or 5 people comment at a time and then i see the number of followers and i get excited all over again. the posts are amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Annie mentioned Stephen King, my favourite writer. Can you tell? hee hee

He describes things to the nth degree! I love that!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I know it is disheartening sometimes, I know. But I wonder if there are lurkers out there. Sometimes people just don't know what to say. And maybe they're wondering what the hell I'm doing, hahahahaha

    ReplyDelete
  49. you know, marion, i like to think of myself as a teacher, so you hit a chord when you say that. and it's funny when you say i am full of joy because i've spent the last year crying in my soup. but i WANT joy. and i want to be passionate. i don't want to give that up, even if i find myself traveling too fast and too deep sometimes....

    ReplyDelete
  50. It's ok to cry in your soup...then you know what joy is when you find it. And if you don't feel you really are full of joy and passion, then fake it till you make it. I think you really are...you just see yourself more critically.

    ReplyDelete
  51. honestly, i think we have a terrific blog here. and i'm sure any one who comes by IS wondering what the hell you are doing because your writing requires that! you're like a spiritual mystery writer.

and marion, i am not really an experienced or a plus writer but i would always want to help and encourage you, middle, myself, any of us. we ARE writers. we are.

    ReplyDelete
  52. And, to heal, sometimes the cut has to be deep and painful, to let out all the crap that's been bottled up in that boil.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hi, it is the other Annie, just peeking in, great little conversation going on...

    ReplyDelete
  54. I've written quite a bit of my story, but haven't posted it because I have been wondering if this is the correct venue for it? It is not really light reading all the time...

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hi, Annie...where do you live? This is so great!

    ReplyDelete
  56. btw, stephen king's book on writing is the best one i've ever read.

you are right about healing, but (insert swear word here), but i'm not crazy about cuts!

hey, i have to join JB for dinner soon. this is a riot, i could go on for so much longer.
you are delightful, marion. i am so glad to get to know you.

we'll do this again sometime, right? i think we have 50 plus comments. what are you doing the rest of the day/night?

    ReplyDelete
  57. I live in Taos New Mexico. It is a beautiful place and today was a warm 55. Yes, this is a fun idea you two had! What are you all up to tonight? For me I am off to watch a movie, not so exciting, but I am a movie freak :-).

    ReplyDelete
  58. I hope others will see how easy it is to talk like this. It's been a great time, not long enough of course, but I've got to get dinner started as well. And feed the dogs, etc. Then I think I'll sit down and watch tv, and fall asleep on the couch!

This has been so much fun!

    ReplyDelete
  59. hi annie, did i tell you i am going to be in sante fe and taos next weekend?

marion, i love your story here on blogland lane. i find the one thing that seems important here on the lane is to keep our posts shorter than on our normal blogs. i don't know if that is true or not but i kind of like how snappy everybody's creative offerings are.

okay, i'm here five more minutes. i always announce my departures in advance. heehee

    ReplyDelete
  60. i am watching desperate housewives later. but i have 15 client notes to type--the only bad part of my job.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Annie...one of my all time favourite places. How spiritual Taos is! And artistic...the light there is fantastic for painting. That's when I still painted, lol!

    ReplyDelete
  62. marion, you paint too?!! will you share some of your paintings here?

    :) i'm willing to bribe...

    ReplyDelete
  63. Yes, I think you're right kj, short and snappy does work better here. Have a great evening!

    ReplyDelete
  64. I have no idea how to go about scanning my paintings, kj, and I don't paint anymore, just doodle. My hands shake too much from fibro. It's ok, though. Doodling's great!

    ReplyDelete
  65. KJ! We shoild meet somehow, I have a big job, but should be home by six on Saturday, would you have anytime to meet? email me and I will give you my phone #. Why are you coming here?
Marion, so lovely to meet you too!

    ReplyDelete
  66. you too, marion. it's been great. thank you so much. you are a fabulous neighbor.

annie, are you still there? you've arrived at the tail end but i hope we will do this again. i'll be emailing you soon, anyhow.

    love to you both,
    kj

    ReplyDelete
  67. annie, i'll send details via email. i hope we can meet. perhaps on sunday or monday of not this week but next. maybe lunch or its equivalent.

i'm off to dinner now. take care, annie. enjoy all the wonderful art you create. ps i love your courage. you always show up, girl.

    g'night all. xoxxo

    ReplyDelete
