Animal Wednesday: Emily's Garden Update

.
.

Hello Everyone, it's me, Emily. (Hello, Anne. I'm glad you aren't in the cellar anymore and where are your poems because now even I am looking for them and usually as you know I mostly only care about myself.)

.

You may know that I had to charge kj $ 15 for use of my garden this weekend. Some of my lollipops and jellybeans were pulled without my permission and even though it was done by a little boy don't you think kj should have asked me first because the whole garden was my idea which brings me to two more points:

.
first, I think this may be my break through idea. Don't you think little kids like Mr. Ryan and Mr. Baby Drew and even some grown ups would like to have jelly bean and lollipop gardens of their own? You just go out in the back yard and pull what you want and then eat it. I suppose you could plant donuts that way too if you wanted to.

.

I asked my Uncle Bunny, who is a business bunny (and Janis Joplin's best friend, well not any more but he was until she died and who knows, maybe he still is) and Uncle Bunny told me to write a letter to see if some company wants to produce and sell garden seeds like the ones lolo designed and I planted and Jos is going to be my business manager even though she hasn't told me how much of the profits she wants but I think she is very fair so I am not worried about it.

.
second, you know kj is a negative nelly, right? She told me no way Jose would the seeds for the Upside Down Cake sprout. She said she researched it and there has never been upside down cake seeds that worked.
,
,
Well it's a good thing I don't usually listen to kj. I know you will agree:
.

.
,
.

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
I am pretty sure I am going to be a millionaire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
.
.
.
And when I get the money I am going to invite everyone to kj's house for a big party and I am going to give away free seed packets and food, plus I will be glad to give lessons to anyone who wants them in how to properly roll down hills and of course how to fall on the ground and stomp your feet while whining and crying deep from your stomach.
.
.
See kj: sometimes you just have to believe in dirt and chocolate and the power of jellybeans.
.
.
Yours truly,
.
Emily Rabbit

  2. Dear Emily,

For an entrepreneurial young rabbit, I am seeing something I had not noticed before, though I doubt you would admit to it (tho I think you should!♥)

    Emily Rabbit
    Is growing quite wise
    She is learning of business
    And how to devise
    A plan and a profit
    And a little bit over
    So that friends she'll invite
To come roll down the clover,
On her hill where she revels
    By her garden so rare...
    I think little Emily's
    Learning to SHARE!
    And believed, tho there's others
    Who might doubt her faith,
But her cake sprang right up,
And it still makes me sayith--
    Emily, dear,
    You're a wise little bunny,
    Who *does* think of others
    And tho you're quite funny,
    That trait alone
Is worth much more than cash
    A far greater profit
    Than the seed business cache.
    So invite all your friends,
    Profit or no,
And you'll find that their friendship
    Is what you want most!

    Sincerely,
    Anne

  3. kj, hmmmpf! you are just being nice to me because you know why. but thank you anyway. p.s. i was not planning to share and then i read anne's poem and now what shall i do? i'm rethinking.

anne,JUMPING BUNNIES! i love this poem! how can you do this so fast? you are the only person besides my best friend marianne that i don't mind sharing attention with. oh and sometimes lori and sometimes lo and okay then i would have to say robin and annie and etc etc but really i mean mostly you. do you think i will make money? i am just wondering if you think i will.

    sincerely,
    e.r.

  4. Emily, it amazes me that the upside-down cake is in a boxed mix and everything!! They must be some really magic seeds or I'm drinking some mighty good wine ;P
But seeing as it comes in a mix, you watered and watered for it to grow and now we pick it and have to add, what, more water and probably oil and eggs before it becomes cake?????

I think these seeds need to be a bit more perfected if you catch my drift.

The jellybeans and lollipops are a huge hit though. I still think you'll become a millionaire ;)

  5. lololo, you are very silly because if the upside down cake was not in a box the birds would peck away at the cake and then it would be swiss upside down cake and who wants that? germs and all, you know...

let me see what jos my business manager thinks about the box. i would hate to have to grow the eggs and oil too because that doesn't even sound like fun but if it will help sales then maybe i will have to but i don't think i will have to.

and lololo, when was the last time you made a cake because it is fun to mix those eggs and oil, even though once i threw the eggs against the wall instead and that was fun too.

and lololo, i got the seeds from YOU, remember. maybe i am going to have to share some of the profits with you too which i won't really mind as long as there is plenty for me.

did you notice i have to write this with kj's logo or whatever it's called? do you think people will visit me here because i will be sad and mad if they don't.

    affectionately
    emily

  6. See Emily, I knew that with my know-how and your business skills ... and gardening skills (who knew you could plant lollipops, or get up-side-down cakes to grow?) ... rolling down hills skills ... crying from your belly skills.

Crickey Em, you are multi-skilled in the extreme! We shall be millionaires in short order. We really will ... won't we?

And if I share my share with KJ & JB, will you? T'is only fair after all. We've used their garden for prototyping.

What is it they say? ... we must remember the ... people. (who cares about their size?). xx

  9. Helllllllloooooooo Emily, look up, look up, we're up here in our balloon ... I read your note over at Kj's and as we haven't hovered over the lane for quite some time thought we should drift on over right away, so whilst Bims*!* is busy in the galley I changed course. We're cloud hunting! Our marshmallow tree needs replenishing, we go through so many now that it's winter and hot chocolate warms our bellies and toes all day long.

I'm glad your upsidedowncake seeds have sprouted, we leporids knows a thing or two ...
got to go ... clouds up ahead Bims*!* got the net ready and is asking why she can see a long lane of rooftops below us!

    Byeeeeeeee

    Love

  11. Dear Emily,

    I am sure that if,
Your bunny heart is good and true
Money, yes, will come your way,
    But other good things too.
And if you wonder why I write
    So quickly, see, this habit
Tis due to having racing thoughts
    Like another little rabbit!

    Sincerely,
    Anne

  12. anne,

i think you are a darn good poet
whether or not you care to know it.

i like that you know when hard is soft
when wines are wiggles and fun's not scoffed.

i wish i could write good and fast like you
but who cares? i'm glad you're a total imp too.

    sincerely,
    emily

  13. jos, if you give any of your profits to kj and JB, would you let me know because i definitely won't if you do, right? do you think it's a problem that the upside down cake is in a box, jos? lololo thinks the seeds need more work. but wouldn't the cake crumble if it weren't in a box? and what the birds pecking?

so what does a business manager do anyway? so far you seem like a good one.

    yours truly,
    emily rabbit,
    SEEDS for ?

  15. wrobin, i am concerned about your speech. let me tell you it is hard to scream at the top of your lungs or boohoohoo on the ground if you are lisping too many words. p.s someday i am going to give you a picture of me for your bedroom and it might even have a swear word on it in a good sort of way...

harry, you are cloud hunting? i would like to do that. you have a marshmellow tree? that is FANTASTIC AND WONDERFUL. i wish you could show me one. harry, what is a leporid? it doesn't sound good. do you think i am one? by the way, i like finally having another rabbit here on kj's blog.

  16. Oh my, this is a lovely boxed cake, and I think you could not pick a better business manager than Jos, she is smart and sweet to boot and that Anne and her fast and witty poetry! I do believe Lo has a point about all that adding and baking, but Emily you also have a point about the birds eating it. There must be a way...Emily I love you, best of luck with this business!

  17. marianne! marianne! i am VERY excited that you are going to plant something too. will you tell me what and when as soon as possible because i can't wait to see what you plant do you already know that you can make lollipops look like a mandala? (kj said of course you know but how would i know if you know).but i don't think the upside down cake would work in circles very. well, do you?

secret agent, you must be very smart. those are two very very good things to believe it, as you know. what about cookie dough ice cream and august corn? i eat the corn so fast i can have 3 ears in one minute.

hello sophia, you must be smart too. did you see lololo's comments about the upside down cake. she thinks it should grow without a box. i am not sure.

    sincerely,
    emily v. v. rabbit

  18. annie, you are being very nice to everybody tonight, but i am not sure what to do about the adding and baking. i hope jos has some ideas. do you think we could put the eggs and what else? right in the box, all mixed already? i wonder if lololo thought of that. you know, i got the seeds from her...

    your friend,
    e.r.

  19. Oh wow. I totally want to learn how to whine, stomp my feet and throw myself around until I get my way. And roll down a hill properly??? Do you promise? Can you really DO that? My technique stinks. Hope you can fix it.

  20. Well, given that the cake is a miracle already, I don't see why it can't all be included, how about the cake seeds be made to bake the cake and keep it in the box so the birds won't eat it? xoxo

  21. I found you emily!, it was easy although i got sidetracked and almost fell off my chair and barfed up my dinner thanks to a video i just watched that kj sent me to. i hope you never see this one emily, unless of course bunny rabbits have no fear of heights and dying.take my word for it!

But back to the cake. maybe you could make an all in one cake, ready made and then a d.i.y. one the way it's growing now! i would buy seed for both.

either way you have a million dollar idea here. I LOVE upside down cake.and think of all the possiblities...cupcakes with sprinkles... banana splits...blueberry crumble!!

if you and jos ever need a photographer (for marketing purposes), i'm your girl!

    tell kj, nighty nite and
    lots of love,
    lori

  22. You go Emily, I hope you make three millions!

  23. Emily you and I have an ancestral family name ... Leporidae, only Rabbits and Hares are allowed to use that name, we have another but we have to it share with those Pikas but we don't mention the name Lagomorpha in our family ... wonder why? Did you know we used to be called Rodentia, now that wouldn't be good for us to be known as rats would it!

Anyways next time we are in your area you can come cloud hunting :)

  24. Basically Emily business managers ... err ... umm. Well you see it's all a little intangible really. We encourage entrepeneurship and cheer from the sidelines to get things under way ... then cheer some more to keep things going. Sounds pretty easy huh? (It is).

The boxes are absolutely crucial if we are going to be mailing cake out to what I'm sure will be a sizeable inland and overseas market. I shall look forward to receiving my sample for quality testing.

But the eggs and oil issue does need to be addressed even so. I think we need to make it a marketing feature (aka as a shotcoming) in the blurb. I don't think anyone other than studio lolo will notice!

... and I think you should accept Lori Anns offer of photography but maybe don't tell KJ too much about that because I know she quite likes taking photos too. Maybe we need two photgraphers anyway.

I will have to think about this profit sharing bizzo. I mean where would we be without KJ & JB? xxxx

  25. Ms. Emily Rabbit, millionaire.... sounds very good to me!
If that is the case, Ms. Emily. Would you be so kind to send me a ticket, so I can come over for the big party and the whining lessons. I'll bring special Dutch cakes of course, so you can have more variety. Maybe we could talk about a Dutch branch?
    Sincerely yours,
    Wieneke

  26. Emily, lots of people grow their own chickens and like to use those beautiful eggs. I don't think adding eggs is a problem. And then the oil...well, I don't even use the oil, I use fruit juice instead. So you see, growing that cake in a box is a great idea...you give people choices as to what to add to make it their very own.

Sorta like when you make mashed potatoes...you have to add milk and butter and salt and pepper, right? And sometimes you can add horseradish or roasted garlic or parsley or all sorts of different things.

So I think you should continue to grow this cake. I know it will make you a millionaire if that is what you want to be. I am so amazed at how deeply you planted Lolo's seed...that cake must have very deep roots!

You might want to be careful with growing this cake, because if it has a big root system you will have to have a lot of land in order to grow enough for all the people who will want cakes. I'll bet some will want at least two or three. Are you going to put a limit on how many cakes per person?

I'm so impressed with your gardening and life skills, Emily...you are simply amazing, dahlink!!!!
